The Weekend That Changed Everything
Ten years ago this weekend, I jumped in with both feet.
It was one of those moments where something deep inside says: *Do the thing. Not just the thing you want to do—the thing you need to do.
In 2011, I realized I saw something that other people don’t see—especially in themselves. Others might call it your gifts, your genius, your brilliance, your special sauce or your magic. I called them Superpowers, because that’s how they showed up to me.
I describe Superpowers as what you do easily and effortlessly, like you’re not even trying—yet other people find it miraculous.
I was developing this work with private clients, following my intuition while clients raved about the impact. After a few years, I knew I wanted to go bigger. I wanted to work with a group, and I wanted to go deep—really deep.
So I created an event and gave it a name that was a little misleading: Superhero Summer Camp.
Sounds like a fun weekend in the woods, right?
It was—but it was also one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had.
Twelve courageous people joined me for three days of self-exploration and reflection. Together, we faced our greatest struggles and our greatest gifts. We sat around the fire. We laughed. We cried. We shared the unspoken truths about ourselves. And we supported each other in discovering and embracing powerful parts of ourselves that we hadn't seen before.
It’s hard to put into words the magic of that weekend. But I can tell you this: People told me it was one of the most transformative experiences they’d ever had. And I believed them—because it changed me too.
That weekend confirmed something I’d only hoped was true: I had something. Something that could help people see a new version of themselves—a shift in consciousness about who they truly are, opening the door to new ways of living, leading, and showing up in the world.
It’s not just about getting out of your own way—it’s discovering what you bring to the table that no one else brings. And knowing that? Changes everything.
Since then, the seeds planted that weekend have grown into a comprehensive personal and professional development program that’s supported hundreds of people—corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, doctors, scientists, professors, executive directors, lawyers, service professionals, and artists—a diverse community of changemakers committed to living and leading with more clarity, confidence, and purpose.
I’m deeply grateful to that first group of brave souls who said yes to something that didn’t yet have a track record—only heart, vision, and an invitation. Their trust gave me the confidence to keep going and keep building.
So here’s to that weekend ten years ago—the one that changed everything. Here’s to the twelve brave people who showed up fully. And here’s to the ripple effect that continues to grow.
I deeply miss my dear friend and bright light, Peter Rubin, who attended that first workshop and whose brilliance, courage and laughter continue to inspire me
What if the version of you the world most needs is the one you haven’t fully seen yet? If you knew what you bring to the table that no one else does, how would your life—and the way you show up—change?
